In assist of the Federal Authorities of Somalia and the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) operations towards al Shabaab, U.S. Africa Command carried out an airstrike towards militants on Might 26.  Â
The operation was carried out within the neighborhood of the ATMIS ahead working base, Bulo Marer and the strike destroyed weapons and tools unlawfully taken by al Shabaab fighters.
U.S. Africa Command’s preliminary evaluation is that no civilians had been injured or killed. Â
The Might 26 operation follows an airstrike by U.S. Africa Command towards the al Shabaab militant community in Jilib, Somalia on Might 20, through which one al Shabaab fighter was injured.
