FARGO, N.D. – NDSU wrestling’s Zach Silvis headlined performances for the Bison on the U23 Nationals and U20 World Workforce Trials in Geneva, Ohio final weekend.
Silvis gained the 55kg Greco-Roman problem event and best-of-three finals on the 2023 U20 World Workforce Trials, qualifying for the USA Wrestling U20 World Workforce.
After falling within the opening match towards Kenneth Crosby, Silvis picked up 7-6 and 4-1 victories to win the 55kg finals. To succeed in the ultimate, Silvis recorded a victory by fall over Roberto Estrada within the Problem Event last in 1:16, after a 5-3 win over Anthony Ruzic within the semis and a 9-0 win by tech fall (2:05) over Davis Motyka within the quarters.
Within the U23 Greco-Roman Nationals, Kellyn March and Clay Radenz earned putting finishes. March positioned fourth in 72kg and Radenz took fifth general in 72kg. Within the U23 Freestyle Nationals, Spencer Mooberry recorded a putting end, taking fourth general at 97 kg.
Along with his win, Silvis will compete for Workforce USA on the United World Wrestling 2023 U20 World Championships from August 14-20. The occasion will happen in Warsaw, Poland.
