WEEKEND. ALL RIGHT, KEVIN, THANKS SO MUCH. YOU KNOW, IT HAS BEEN SUCH A BUSY WEEK FOR SCHOOLS, SCHOOL DISTRICTS THROUGHOUT GREATER CINCINNATI HAVE BEEN MAKING ALL OF THESE ADJUSTMENTS BECAUSE OF THE HEAT ALL WEEK. AND THAT INCLUDED FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, OF COURSE, WLWT NEWS FIVE’S CURTIS FULLER JOINS US FROM COVINGTON, WHERE A LATE NIGHT MATCHUP IS JUST WRAPPING UP. CURTIS. HI THERE, CHRIS. YOU KNOW, AS A MATTER OF FACT, KEVIN IS RIGHT. IT FEELS VERY COMFORTABLE OUT HERE NOW. BUT AT TIMES TODAY, THE HEAT INDEX, I’M TOLD, ON SOME FOOTBALL FIELDS WELL OVER 100 DEGREES. AND THE GAME TIME TEMPERATURE HERE IN COVINGTON TONIGHT WAS NEAR 90. SO IT’S BEEN OVERLY HOT. YOU KNOW, WE HAVE RULES WE FOLLOW IN KENTUCKY. IT’S BEEN THE HOTTEST WEEK OF THE YEAR. THERE YOU GO. FRIDAY NIGHT, UNDER THE LIGHTS, NEWPORT, CENTRAL CATHOLIC AND WALTON VERONA CALLED AN AUDIBLE. LIKE MOST AREA SCHOOLS, TO MAKE SURE NO ONE WAS SACKED DURING THE UNBEARABLE HEAT. THE START TIMES MOVED FOR MANY GAMES IN THE AREA TO 8:00, EVEN THOUGH EVENING CLOUDY SKIES PROVIDED A LITTLE RELIEF THAT MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN KICKOFF OFF ON TIME. YEAH, WE COULD HAVE. BUT YOU KNOW, THE SMART THING WAS MOVE IT BACK, MAKE SURE WE’RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO PLAY THE GAME. AND YOU KNOW, YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SITTING HERE FOR AN HOUR WAITING FOR THE THE HEAT INDEX TO BE LOW ENOUGH IN MASON, WHETHER GADGETS TRACK THE HEAT ON THE FIELD BEFORE THE GAME AND MISTERS HELP BEAT THE HEAT. COACHES, WE TALKED TO SAID BEING WEATHER WISE MIGHT HAVE SAVED SOMEONE’S LIFE. THIS WEEK. YOU KNOW, OBVIOUSLY IN THE END, WE HOPE NOBODY EVER SERIOUSLY INJURED, ESPECIALLY FROM SOME WEATHER. THE BIGGEST THING IS IT CAN’T START TONIGHT. IT HAD TO START EARLIER IN THE WEEK. YEAH. AND YOU KNOW, THAT COACH TOLD ME THAT A LOT OF THE KIDS THESE DAYS, THEY’RE SO USED TO PLAYING INDOORS, YOU KNOW, PLAYING VIDEO GAMES AND SPENDING MOST TIME INDOORS WHEN THEY HAVE TO HIT THIS HEAT. IT REALLY IMPACTS THEM. UNLIKE MAYBE FOR SOME OF YOU YEARS AGO. AND SO THEY DID THE RIGHT THING THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN OUR AREA. IT’S ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. REPORTING LIVE, I’M CURTIS COURTI
