HARGEISA (Somaliguardian) – Authorities in Somalia’s breakaway area of Somaliland on Wednesday executed 5 males by firing squad after being convicted of homicide.
The execution of the 5 prisoners held for years in Mandhera Jail close to the port metropolis of Berbera occurred in Abdaal village, authorities stated in an announcement.
Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi signed the order to execute the 5 prisoners. Comparable executions by the break-away area’s authorities drew criticism from human rights activists.
