MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Conventional leaders of northern Somalia’s Sool, Sanaag and Cayn areas (SSC) stated on Saturday that they won’t choose MPs representing them in Puntland parliament, ending their decades-long participation in regional politics.
“We determined to not choose the 17 MPs [representing SSC in Puntland parliament] and to not take part in upcoming Puntland election,” SSC conventional leaders stated in a press release.
“Individuals from Khatumo [another name for SSC] won’t be allowed to run for the deputy President of Puntland,” the assertion provides.
