Windy and wet Christmas
Gusty winds and regular rain make for a soggy Christmas Day.
RAINY, RAINY DAY TODAY. IT IS GOING TO BE MILD THOUGH, SO WE’VE GOT, YOU KNOW, AT LEAST WARM CONDITIONS IF YOU HAVE TO TRAVEL TO A FAMILY FRIEND’S HOUSE TODAY, YOU CAN SEE THAT RAIN COMING IN FROM THE SOUTH. SO THAT’S GOING TO BE LIFTING NORTH AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EVENING HOURS. WHAT WE’RE SEEING RIGHT NOW GENERALLY LIGHT, WE DO HAVE SOME POCKETS OF EMBEDDED MODERATE SHOWERS HERE. WE’LL TAKE YOU ON A RADAR TOUR TO START. YOU CAN SEE, UM, RIPLEY AND DEARBORN COUNTY AND THEN INTO OHIO AND SWITZERLAND COUNTY LIGHT TO LOCALLY MODERATE RAIN, HEAVY SHOWERS AROUND PLEASANT PLACES NORTH OF RIGHT NOW, WARSAW, SOUTH OF YOU. YOU’RE SEEING SOME ISOLATED POCKETS OF MODERATE RAINFALL AND LIGHT RAIN AROUND RISING SUN AS YOU HEAD BACK TO THE WEST. HERE, EAST, I SHOULD SAY SOUTH. THE 7175 SPLIT NORTH OF OWENTON. WE’VE GOT SOME POCKETS OF MODERATE RAINFALL. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO FOLKS AROUND DRY RIDGE BUTLER FALMOUTH. YOU’RE SEEING SOME LIGHT SCATTERED SHOWERS RIGHT NOW. AND THEN LIGHT RAIN CONTINUES FURTHER EAST OF THAT. AND, UH, BRACKEN, MASON, ROBERTSON COUNTY STEADY. A SHOWERS HERE AROUND MOUNT OLIVET IN ROBERTSON COUNTY TODAY, BUT WIDER PICTURE IS GOING TO SHOW A LARGER AREA OF RAINFALL. IT’S COMING IN WITH THE STORM CENTER. SOME FOLKS IN THE UNITED STATES ARE GETTING A WHITE CHRISTMAS TODAY. WE HAVE BLIZZARD CONDITIONS, SO SOME STRONG GUSTY WINDS OUT OVER THE PLAINS, COLD AIR AND A LOT OF SNOW. AS FOR US HERE, WE’RE ON THE WARM SIDE OF THE STORM AND QUITE WARM FOR DECEMBER, AND A LOT OF RAINFALL CONTINUES TO LIFT INTO OUR REGION, SO WE’RE GOING TO WATCH THAT AS WE HEAD THROUGH TODAY BECAUSE IT IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO BRING US UP A PRETTY GOOD CHRISTMAS DAY. SOAKING WEATHER IMPACT DAY TODAY, 58 FOR THE HIGH. SOME OF US WILL CERTAINLY HIT THE LOWER 60S. AND AGAIN, THAT WIND IS GOING TO BE A PROBLEM FOR US AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE DAYTIME. TONIGHT, WINDS STARTS TO SUBSIDE. NOT QUITE AS STRONG AS WHAT WE’RE GOING TO SEE LATER THIS AFTERNOON, BUT BREEZY WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS AND VERY MILD CONDITIONS OF AROUND 50 TONIGHT. YOU CAN SEE WINDS INCREASING AS WE HEAD TOWARDS THREE. SO THAT STORM CENTER IS GOING TO BE LIFTING IN AND REALLY GOING TO KICK UP THE WIND AS A RESULT. SO GUSTS BETWEEN 30 AND 35 AS WE HEAD BETWEEN 3 AND 6 WOULDN’T BE THE LEAST BIT SURPRISED. WE’RE STILL SEEING 30 MILE AN HOUR GUSTS AS YOU HEAD TOWARDS 9:00 TONIGHT, SO JUST PLAN ON THAT AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. WINDS ARE GOING TO START TO DROP OFF A LITTLE BIT AND WE’LL SEE LESS GUSTY CONDITIONS THROUGH EARLY TOMORROW. SO MUCH MORE CALM INTO TUESDAY. BUT WE’RE STILL GOING TO CONTINUE TO TRACK THE RAIN AS WE HEAD INTO TUESDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON. FUTURECAST TODAY, THOUGH, WILL SHOW VAST MAJORITY OF THOSE SHOWERS BETWEEN THREE AND NINE, SO THAT SAME WINDY WINDOW THAT WE’RE EXPERIENCING LATER TODAY, YOU CAN SEE STEADY RAINFALL ACROSS THE WLWT VIEWING AREA AS YOU HEAD TOWARDS 6:00 TONIGHT. I THINK SHOWERS STARTING TO TAPER OFF. IT SHOULD BE PRETTY SCATTERED THROUGH ABOUT NINE AND THEN ADDITIONAL WET WEATHER OFF AND ON. RAIN SHOWERS FROM MIDNIGHT THROUGH ABOUT 6:00 TOMORROW MORNING. COULD SEE SOME MORE HIT AND MISS SHOWERS THROUGH THE DAYTIME TOMORROW, BUT WORST OF IT CERTAINLY GOING TO BE BEHIND US AS WE VENTURE INTO THE REST OF YOUR TUESDAY. NOW, WHEN THIS IS ALL SAID AND DONE, LISA, THE HEAVIESTRILLIONAINFALL THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING, I WOULD SAY ABOUT A HALF INCH, MAYBE THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH FOR SOME LOCATIONS. SO A GOOD DECEMBER SOAKING HERE AS WE GO THROUGH CHRISTMAS DAY AND THEN FOR TOMORROW, ANOTHER DAY IN THE 50S TO NEAR 60. WE’LL HAVE A FEW SHOWERS, MAINLY IN THE MORNING AND AGAIN, LESS WINDY. IT’S GOING TO BE FAR LESS WINDY THROUGH YOUR TUESDAY, SO BREAK THAT FORECAST DOWN FOR TOMORROW A LITTLE BIT FURTHER. HERE YOU CAN SEE STARTING OUT IN THE LOWER 50S. AND THEN I THINK A LITTLE BIT COOLER AS YOU HEAD TOWARDS THE EVENING HOURS. AGAIN, NOT AS MUCH RAIN TOMORROW AND WE SHOULD SEE A LITTLE BIT LESS IN THE WAY OF CLOUD COVER AS YOU HEAD INTO WEDNESDAY. THURSDAY, OFF AND ON. CHANCES FOR WET WEATHER CONTINUE AND THEN INTO FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. LAST FEW DAYS OF 2023. HARD TO BELIEVE WINTER AIR VENTURING BACK IN SO WE’VE GOT UPPER 30S FOR FRIDAY. IT’S GOING TO B
