Mogadishu (SONNA): – Djibouti, the present chair of the Intergovernmental Authority on Growth (IGAD), has introduced that it’s going to convene a rare summit on the continued disaster between Ethiopia and Somalia and the state of affairs in Sudan.
The Ministry of International Affairs and Worldwide Cooperation of Djibouti mentioned in an announcement that the summit was referred to as by President Ismail Omar Guelleh, who can be the chair of IGAD, and will likely be hosted by President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda on 18 January 2024.
The assertion mentioned that the summit will tackle two major points: the escalating pressure between Ethiopia and Somalia over the Somali Sea and the Ethiopian cope with Somaliland, and the political and safety challenges in Sudan.
The assertion added that the official invites will likely be despatched to all IGAD member states, the African Union and worldwide companions by means of diplomatic channels, and requested the IGAD Secretariat in Djibouti to coordinate with the Ugandan authorities for the group of the summit.
