MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab insurgents on Wednesday launched daybreak assault on a number of military bases in central Somalia, weeks after offensive towards them stalled as a result of a sequence of setbacks.
A navy spokesman for the Al-Qaeda offshoot mentioned they’d killed 191 troopers, together with Turkish-trained Gorgor commandoes and US-trained Danab particular forces. The spokesperson added that the insurgent fighters had seized all of the weapons and navy autos contained in the attacked bases.
Somali state TV reported that the military and allied clan militias repulsed the assault and killed a number of insurgents.
