Mogadishu, – The African Union Fee’s (AUC) Director for Battle Administration, Dr. Alhadji Sarjoh Bah, has wrapped up a five-day working go to to Somalia. He led a high-level delegation from the Political Affairs, Peace, and Safety Division which included the newly appointed Head of the Peace Assist Operations Division (PSOD), Common Cheick Dembele.
The main focus of the engagements was to stipulate the modalities for a seamless transition of safety obligations from ATMIS to Somali Safety Forces and post-ATMIS safety preparations.
On arrival in Mogadishu on Saturday, the delegation was welcomed by the African Union Particular Consultant for Somalia and Head of ATMIS, Ambassador Mohamed El-Amine Souef; the Performing Minister for International Affairs, Ali Omar Balad; the Minister of Info, Tradition, and Tourism, Daud Aweis; and the management group of ATMIS.
They held key discussions with officers from the Federal Authorities of Somalia (FGS). They met with the State Minister within the Workplace of the Prime Minister, Hirsi Gaani, and the Nationwide Safety Advisor, Hussein Sheikh Ali. In addition they engaged with UN officers, worldwide companions, Ambassadors from ATMIS Troop Contributing Nations, and representatives from Civil Society.
They mirrored on the teachings discovered from each Section One and Two drawdowns, the forthcoming Section Three in June 2024, which requires an extra drawdown of 4,000 troops, and the following section after ATMIS ends on 31 December 2024.
For a seamless transition and to make sure there aren’t any safety gaps, Dr. Alhadji Sarjoh Bah said that the African Union will likely be versatile and contemplate any challenges that will come up.
