Winter Storm Warning: Snow impacts night commute, brings mild accumulations
TO START TO MAKE THOSE ROADS. MAYBE A LITTLE TRICKY. THAT AND THE SUN’S GOING DOWN NOW. SO WHATEVER LITTLE AMBIENT WARMTH THE SUN WAS HELPING WITH TODAY IS NOW GONE. IN ADDITION TO THESE HEAVY, HEAVY SNOWFALL RATES THAT WE’RE EXPERIENCING ACROSS THE AREA. NOTICE THOSE REALLY DARK BLUES. THOSE ARE REFLECTIVE OF WHERE YOU’VE GOT REALLY HEAVY SNOW COMING DOWN. AND AS WE’VE BEEN SAYING THE ENTIRE TIME, A LOT OF FOLKS WONDERING, WELL, IS THE SNOW GOING TO BE ENOUGH TO ACCUMULATE ON THE ROADS? IT WILL WHEN IT COMES DOWN HEAVY ENOUGH. REGARDLESS OF HOW WARM IT’S BEEN. AND THAT’S WHAT WE’RE STARTING TO SEE TAKE PLACE RIGHT NOW. WE HAD A LITTLE THUNDER AND LIGHTNING EARLIER, SO WE OFFICIALLY HAVE HAD SOME THUNDER SNOW DOWN THERE NEAR. THE V-VI AREA THROUGH PARTS OF CARROLL COUNTY A LITTLE WHILE AGO THAT HAS SENT SOME POCKETS OF HEAVY SNOW IN OUR DIRECTION UP TOWARDS THE 275 LOOP. WE’VE BEEN CHECKING CAMERAS ALL AROUND THE 275 LOOP, AS YOU SAW THERE WITH DAISY. SOME OF THE EVEN MAJOR THOROUGHFARES ARE NOW BEGINNING TO GET A LITTLE SNOW COVER ON THEM HERE. AS WE HEAD INTO THE EVENING, THERE’S PRETTY MODERATE SNOW THROUGH MUCH OF BUTLER. AND THE WARREN COUNTIES. TWO FROM SPRINGBORO OVER TOWARDS MIDDLETOWN. IT IS SNOWING AT A GOOD CLIP OUT THERE. SAME STORY THROUGH PARTS OF FRANKLIN, FAYETTE UNION COUNTIES AND SOUTHEAST INDIANA. I’VE BEEN GETTING SOME PICTURES AND VIDEO FROM VIEWERS OUT THERE IN SUNMAN SHOWING SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LAWNS. NOT QUITE AS HEAVY, AT LEAST MOMENTARILY, BUT THERE STILL PLENTY OF SNOW TO GO HERE. THIS EVENING. TAKE YOU TO THE SOUTHEAST OF THE CITY AS WELL, WHERE YOU’VE HAD SOME MIXING OF RAIN AND SNOW. BUT EVEN HERE TOO, YOU’RE GOING TO START TO GO INTO SNOW SHORTLY. IF YOU’RE DOWN TOWARDS WEST UNION. IN MAYSVILLE. LOOK HOW DARK THOSE BLUES ARE UP TOWARDS WILMINGTON. NORTHERN PARTS OF BROWN COUNTY, OUT TOWARDS BATAVIA. THOSE ARE SOME OF THOSE HEAVY SNOWFALL RATES THAT ARE BEGINNING TO COVER EVEN THE MAJOR THOROUGHFARES. OKAY, HERE’S THE STORM. BIG PICTURE. NOTICE THESE VERY DARK BANDS OF BLUE THAT EXTEND ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE ILLINOIS INDIANA STATE LINE. ALL OF THIS ESSENTIALLY HAS TO PIVOT ITS WAY THROUGH THE TRI-STATE. SO AGAIN, WE’RE JUST KIND OF IN THE MID PART OF THE SECOND QUARTER HERE, NOT EVEN THE HALFTIME WITH THIS STORM JUST YET. ZOOM YOU IN A LITTLE CLOSER. HERE’S THE HEAVY SNOW THAT’S FLYING OUT THERE FOR A LOT OF US RIGHT NOW. CHECK TEMPERATURES. TEMPERATURES HAVE GENERALLY FALLEN BELOW FREEZING IN MANY LOCALES. SO THAT’S ALSO GOING TO HELP ACCELERATE OUT THE ACCUMULATION PROCESS. ONCE WE DIP BELOW FREEZING. AND YOU KNOW, ROAD CONDITIONS, AS WE’VE BEEN SHOWING YOU DOING A PRETTY GOOD JOB HERE. STARTING TO SEE SNOW COVERED ROADS AS WE HEAD INTO THE 630 7:00 TIME FRAME. NOTICE THAT AS WE MOVE FORWARD BY EIGHT, IT CERTAINLY POSSIBLE AS THOSE HEAVIER SNOW BANDS MOVE IN, THAT A GOOD PART OF THE AREA VERY WELL COULD HAVE SNOW COVERED ROADS AS WE GET TOWARDS EIGHT AND 9:00 TONIGHT WITH THAT HEAVIER SNOW MOVING IN AND TEMPERATURES FALLING BACK INTO THE 20S. SO FUTURECAST SHOWS YOU THE BANDS OF HEAVY SNOW. LOOK AT THESE REALLY DARK BLUES THAT SET UP AFTER THE 7:00 HOUR. SO YES, SEVEN, EIGHT, NINE. IT SNOWS HEAVILY ACROSS THE REGION AND THEN BY 10 OR 11 THE SNOW IS PULLING OUT OF HERE AND IT GETS REALLY COLD OVERNIGHT. SO MOST OF US STILL GOING TO PICK UP TWO THREE INCHES OF SNOW. IT WOULD APPEAR. NOW NORTH OF THE RIVER AND TOWARDS I-70. THERE WILL BE AMOUNTS OVER FOUR OR GETTING AWFULLY CLOSE TO FOUR. SO THAT’S WHY WE’RE LOOKING AT SNOW COVERED ROADS AND PROBABLY MAYBE OUR BIGGEST SNOWFALL OF THE SEASON SO FAR. THE OTHER BIG STORY DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND CHILLS WILL SETTLE IN BEHIND THE SNOW TONIGHT. WIND CHILLS TOMORROW MORNING WILL BE DOWN INTO THE LOW TEENS AND SINGLE DIGITS. AND THEN AGAIN SATURDAY NIGHT. SUNDAY MORNING WIND CHILLS WILL BE IN THE SINGLE DIGITS. SO THIS IS A NICE LITTLE PUNCH OF WINTER HEADED. OUR. WAY. HERE’S A LIVE LOOK FROM DOWNTOWN CINCINNATI. YOU CAN BARELY MAKE OUT PAYCOR STADIUM RIGHT THERE IN THE CORNER. WE’RE OFFICIALLY AT 30 DEGREES. WE’VE GOT A NORTH WIND AT EIGHT. EVENTUALLY WE’RE GOING TO GET DOWN TO 21 TONIGHT AS IT STAYS BITTERLY COLD, AND THOSE WINDS WILL PICK UP TWO. AND THESE HEAVY SNOWFALL RATES REALLY REDUCE VISIBILITY TOMORROW. SO ONLY 29 FOR A HIGH. BUT IT WILL FEEL LIKE IT’S IN THE TEENS. THERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR DAY PLANNER. AT LEAST WE’LL GET THE SUN OUT TOMORROW. AND ANY SNOW ON ROADS WILL LIKELY MELT AWAY. HERE’S A LOOK AT YOUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST DOWN TO 18 SATURDAY NIGHT. THE GOOD NEWS MIKE AND SHRI, WHILE THIS IS A NASTY LITTLE PUNCH, IT’S JUST THAT IT’S GONE EARLY NEXT WEEK BECAUSE TEMPERATURES WIL
