Somalian Civil Aviation and Airports Authority is investigating a close to collision between an Ethiopian A350 and a Qatar Airways 787 whereas flying over the Gulf of Aden close to Somalia, after ATC wrongly informed one plane to climb to 40,000 toes.
As per a Somaliland Civil Aviation and Airports Authority report, it was a detailed name for Qatar Airways Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (reg. A7-BCN) cruising at 38,000 toes altitude on 24 February 2024
Pilots obtained directions from ATC to climb to 40,000 toes altitude whereas flying within the Mogadishu FIR from Doha to Entebbe on flight QR1383.
The Qatar Airways Boeing 787-8 was going through an Ethiopian Airways A350-900 (ET602) which was flying from Addis to Dubai.
The TCAS (Site visitors Avoidance Collision System) gadget gave an pressing warning and informed the presence of the opposite airplane.
The Qatar Airways didn’t observe the ATC directions and averted a attainable catastrophe with Ethiopian Airways plane from Addis Ababa to Dubai.
