MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – A minimum of 30 folks, together with ladies and youngsters have been killed after fierce clashes between two clan militias erupted within the villages of Bur Shiiq and Biyo Cadde in south Somalia’s Center Shabelle area on Sunday, Caasimada On-line information web site reported.
The gun battles continued by way of the night, forcing residents within the two villages and neighboring rural areas to flee their properties.
It comes per week after Somali authorities mediated a truce between two clans within the area to finish weeks-long preventing that led to the loss of life of civilians and destruction of property. Somalia’s spy chief who spoke on the occasion threatened that the federal government will spare no effort to carry folks fueling clan conflicts to justice.
Since Somali military alongside clan militias seized swathes of territory within the area from Al-Shabaab in 2022, dozens of individuals have been killed in inter-communal clashes in Hiran and Center Shabelle areas. Regardless of authorities promising accountability, such conflicts present no signal of abating.
