The video exhibits worshippers confronting Mohamud and asking him to both depart or take off his footwear. Although the President initially tried to disregard the calls for and calm the Muslim worshippers within the mosque by saying that his “footwear don’t pose hurt”, he lastly accepted to go away.
The transfer has triggered a social media backlash in Somalia, with many accusing the Somali head of state of violating the sanctity of a mosque. Mohamud and his authorities have but to touch upon the incident.
