MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Wednesday convened a gathering with military high brass on the Ministry of Protection, hours after Somali safety forces backed by US air assist seized a strategic village close to the port city of Kismayo.
Army officers briefed the President about latest military operations within the Decrease Juba area that noticed the seize of two villages linking the coastal city of Kismayo and Afmadow, each beneath the management of allied Somali and Kenyan forces, Mohamud’s workplace stated in a press release on X.
The navy operation, which comes amid stalled offensive in central Somalia, has for the primary time in a decade lifted a siege in town of Afmadow in Jubaland state.
