Militants assault military bases close to south Somalia’s Afgoye city

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Al-Shabaab militants launched a coordinated assault on Somali military bases in Sabiid village close to the city of Afgoye, roughly 30 kilometers southwest of the capital, Mogadishu.  

The Islamist group, in an announcement, claimed to have overrun the navy installations and seized management of the city, releasing photographs purportedly displaying captured bases and the strategic Sabiid bridge beneath their command.
