MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s authorities has imposed a stringent situation on the participation of Jubaland chief Ahmed Madobe within the upcoming Nationwide Consultative Council assembly, after excluding him from the record of invitees.
Minister of Inside Safety, Abdullahi Ismail Fartag, acknowledged that Madobe would solely be allowed to attend the assembly if he invalidates the controversial election wherein he secured a 3rd time period in workplace late final 12 months. The federal authorities has refused to acknowledge the re-election, heightening tensions between Mogadishu and Jubaland.
Fartag emphasised that nullifying the election was a prerequisite for Madobe’s re-entry into the dialogue, regardless of mounting worldwide requires a broader nationwide consensus involving regional leaders and political stakeholders. The main focus of the discussions is to deal with vital points, together with the forthcoming elections and the struggle towards the militant group Al-Shabaab.
Moreover, the federal government confirmed plans to conduct municipal elections in six places throughout the Gedo area and two in Decrease Juba. It warned that any efforts by Madobe to impede these initiatives could be met with additional motion.
